Seminar on Hertervig and Hill

The Exhibition Hertervig – Hill. Dream and Reality Opens 21st February at 5 PM at Stavanger kunstmusem. 

The exhibition, previously shown at Prins Eugen’s Waldemarsudde in the fall, presents the expressive works of Lars Hertervig (1830–1902) in dialogue with the works of renowned Swedish visionary painter Carl Fredrik Hill (1849–1911). Though both are highly individualistic artists and belong to different generations, the exhibition explores parallels in the artistic legacy of Hertervig and Hill.

The exhibition comprises approximately 170 paintings and drawings and is a collaboration between Prins Eugen’s Waldemarsudde, Stavanger Art Museum, and the Nordic Institute of Art. It provides the framework for the themes addressed in the seminar. Speakers will share their research and insights on Hertervig and Hill, as well as offer broader perspectives on Romanticism. The seminar will be conducted in Norwegian and Swedish.
